Project Two
Keep My Head Above Water/ 2025/ Acrylic/48” x 30” x 1.5”
This series began as coursework for an AP Art training class and grew into an exploration of resilience and hidden turmoil. Each piece centers on a figure with only her head above the waterline, calm and composed at the surface. Beneath her, however, the reflection reveals a contrasting world of chaos and bold color—an expression of internal struggle, suppressed emotion, and the vivid complexity that often lies unseen. The works invite viewers to consider the difference between outward composure and inner reality, asking how much of ourselves we keep afloat and what we let swirl beneath.
